Slaidburn's nearest market town is Clitheroe. It has an excellent range of local shops and two of national renown.

Byrnes Wine Merchants, in King Street is one of the finest independent wine merchants in Britain and regularly wins awards for the standard of their fine wines and spirits and for their excellent customer service. Cowmans Butchers, in Castle Street is renown for its wide range of sausages which are all made on the premises by the proprietor Cliff Cowburn.

Most local towns have a market day when a wide range of local produce is available.

Clitheroe - market days Tuesday and Saturday

Bentham - market day Wednesday

Garstang - market day Thursday

Hawes - market day Tuesday

Settle - market day Tuesday

Skipton - market days Monday, Friday and Saturday

Lancaster covered market most days except Wednesdays.

Two other popular shopping locations are Boundary Mill at Colne and Oswaldtwistle Mills shopping village.
