Some of the finest reservoir fishing in England is available at Stocks Fly Fishery which is just half a mile up the road from the holiday accommodation at Woodhouse Gate. Superb Triploid Rainbow, Brown and Blue trout can be fished from boat or bank on 360 acres of water of the largest reservoir in Lancashire. Tuition is available and you can hire boats, tackle and equipment.

In addition, during the season, game fishing for Brown Trout, Sea Trout, Grayling and Salmon using fly or lure is available on a mile long stretch of the River Hodder near Slaidburn. Day or weekly licences for the water are available from Slaidburn Post Office at a very reasonable rate.

NB. National Rod Licences are required for fishing at Stocks and on the River Hodder.

Any angler, aged 12 years or over, fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England must have an Environment Agency rod licence. These can be purchased from the Post Office in Slaidburn, the Enviroment Agency Telesales Service on 0870 1662 662 or from the Environment Agency website.
