Woodhouse Gate Farm Cottage

Eating Out

There are several recommended places to eat out within a reasonable distance of Woodhouse Gate Farm Cottage.

Closest is the historic "Hark to Bounty" Hark to Bounty Inn, Slaidburnin the village of Slaidburn which dates back to the 16th century. The pub provides excellent food from their bar menu or in the in-house "Squire's Restaurant. Also there are always a number of ever-changing "Chef's Specials" on the menu. We often eat there ourselves and can highly recommend the food on offer. The pub also offers a range of ales and a good wine list.

The village of Newton, approximately 3 miles from Woodhouse Gate has the "Parker's Arms" pub which also serves large portions of good plain food in pleasant surroundings.

Slightly further afield in the hamlet of Whitewell is the Inn at Whitewell, which has a national reputation for it's wonderfully quirky country house hotel atmosphere. Set up and run by the late Richard Bowman it is now run by his son who continues its tradition of excellent food and wines in a beautiful setting close to the River Hodder.
